Se dice que H\u00e9rcules, descansando en este acantilado a su regreso de Espa\u00f1a, la llam\u00f3 Tropea en honor de su nodriza Juno y se convirti\u00f3 as\u00ed en uno de los Puertos de H\u00e9rcules.\u00a0<\/p><p>Otros dicen que fue fundada por Escipi\u00f3n el Africano o Sexto Pompeyo, que tra\u00edan aqu\u00ed sus trofeos tras luchar y vencer.\u00a0<\/p><p>Muchos hallazgos, de hecho, atestiguan asentamientos que se remontan a 3000 a\u00f1os antes de Cristo e indican que Tropea formaba parte de la Magna Grecia. Por su posici\u00f3n y belleza, siempre fue una ciudad disputada y favorecida por emperadores, reyes y gobernantes que se sucedieron en el tiempo.
